What it is
A non-surgical way to treat excessive sweating using small doses of neurotoxin to calm sweat glands in areas like the underarms, hands, or feet.
How it works
Neurotoxin is placed just under the skin in a series of tiny injections. Instead of affecting muscle movement, here it works by calming the sweat glands directly — blocking the signal that tells them to switch on. The result is that the treated area produces far less sweat.
What to expect
-
We’ll talk through your main concerns and the areas that impact you most and when applicable, apply topical numbing to the areas we will be treating
-
A series of small, quick injections are placed just under the skin in the treatment area. Most clients describe it as a few minutes of mild pinching or pressure.
-
You can return to normal activity right away. You may notice tiny bumps or redness at the injection sites — these fade within hours.
Frequently asked questions
-
No — it only reduces sweating in the treated area. Your body still regulates temperature normally through other sweat glands.
-
No. Studies show the body doesn’t “shift” sweating to other areas when one area is treated.
-
Yes. Neurotoxin for hyperhidrosis has been FDA-approved for years, and ongoing treatments are considered safe.
-
We usually recommend waiting until the following day to apply deodorant or antiperspirant in the treated area.
-
While the treatment is FDA-approved, coverage varies and many clinics treat it as an out-of-pocket service. SkinAve does not accept insurance, but we’ll review expected costs with you in advance so there are no surprises.
