What it is

A medium-depth chemical peel that builds on the original VI formula — but intensifies pigment correction. It’s still quick, manageable, and doesn’t require numbing, but is specifically designed to lift deeper, more stubborn discoloration that hasn’t fully responded to other treatments.

You’ll leave the studio with the peel still on — and let it finish developing at home over the next 4 hours before rinsing. We’ll guide you through the full healing phase, and provide a take-home kit with everything you need.

How it works

The Precision Plus formula contains the core VI Peel actives (TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C), but adds hydroquinone and kojic acid — targeted brighteners that interrupt melanin production at the cellular level.

This dual approach breaks up existing pigment clusters while preventing new ones from forming. It’s especially effective on melasma or pigment that has resisted lasers, brightening topicals, or standard peels.

What to Expect:

  • We’ll assess your pigment pattern and skin history to confirm this is the best step — especially if melasma is involved. If needed, we may recommend prep products or a short pigment-suppression phase before treatment.

  • Your skin will be cleansed and the solution applied in studio. You’ll feel a bit of warmth or tingling — most clients find it very tolerable. The peel remains on your skin for 4 hours, then is washed off at home.

  • Expect flaking or peeling to begin around day 3 and last several days. Deeper pigment may take multiple peels to lift. Avoid picking, exfoliating, or sun exposure — and follow your post-care guide closely.

Supporting your Results:

Some clients treating deeper pigment may also be working on lingering acne marks, sun-related texture changes, or uneven tone.

We talk you through all of it before anything begins, so you know what to expect and can make clear, confident choices from the start.

Below, you’ll find treatments we may suggest you pair, sequence, or layer with this one — always with intention, and only when they help protect or guide your results.

  • These treatments may be layered into a broader pigment-reduction plan over time:

Microneedling with PRF — encourages skin regeneration and helps soften post-acne marks or surface irregularity that often coexist with pigment

CoolPeel — fractional resurfacing that may alternate with peels to enhance clarity and texture

VI Advanced Peel — may be used in between Precision Plus sessions when targeting shallower discoloration alongside deeper patches

  • To strengthen long-term clarity or prevent pigment from reaccumulating, we may recommend:

PRF Injections support healthier skin function from within, particularly for crepiness or skin fragility

Sculptra can improve overall skin quality and collagen density, especially if pigment overlaps with aging or volume changes

These aren’t about the peel directly — they’re about helping your skin stay in a state where results build, not fade.

  • Once your skin finishes peeling, a few specific products can help reinforce your results and protect your progress. Below are our go-tos—chosen for their formulation, clinical results, and consistency across skin types

SkinBetter Alto Advanced Defense & Repair Serum — antioxidant blend that reduces oxidative triggers for pigment rebound

SkinBetter AlphaRet Overnight Cream— combines retinoid activity and brightening agents for gentle skin renewal post-peel

SkinBetter SunBetter Tone Smart SPF 70—for the long days under the sun— and Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF—for the everyday—(we love to mix it with glow for a lightweght daytime makeup look). Both collections feature products of the best formulations with iron oxides to block both UV and visible light.

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes. The Precision Plus Peel is formulated to be safe for all Fitzpatrick types and is commonly used in clients with deep or reactive skin tones. We tailor every application to your skin’s needs.

  • Unlike many topicals or lasers that only treat the surface, this peel works both above and below — breaking up pigment clusters while blocking the melanin cycle itself. Its strength is in targeting the root cause with a plan, not just a single session.

  • Yes but the peeling process is controlled and predictable. You’ll typically see visible shedding between 3-5 days post-treatment. It often starts around the mouth or chin, then moves outward. We’ll guide you on how to care for your skin which is key to getting the best results.

  • Most clients describe it as manageable — more like flaking or sheet peeling than rawness.

You may feel dry, tight, or look visibly flaky, but discomfort is minimal. We’ll help you prepare with products and pacing so you can feel confident during the process.

  • Yes, but expect some visible flaking or shedding starting around day 3. Many clients plan the peel for a time when they can go makeup-free or wear a mask if needed.

  • You’ll need to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment. Once peeling begins, we recommend keeping skin clean and hydrated, avoiding makeup until flaking subsides to prevent interference with the healing process.

  • Many clients see strong results from one peel—but for deeper pigment issues, we often recommend a series of 2-3.

Your provider will guide you based on your skin response, history, and goals. maintenance peels 1-2 times a year can help keep pigment in check long-term.
