What it is (and why we often start here)
A chin augmentation is one of the most effective ways to bring harmony to the lower face — and while it often stands strong on its own, it also serves as a powerful anchor in full-face treatment plans.
We often start here when something just feels “off,” even if you can’t quite name why.
How it works
We use a soft, hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler — designed to mimic natural skin structure — to enhance the shape, projection, or contour of the chin.
Filler is placed in micro amounts and precisely mapped to your facial proportions. It may be used to create more forward projection, gently elongate the lower face, soften dimples or creases, or refine asymmetries that affect the way your features flow together. Every placement is based on your lip-to-chin ratio, jawline structure, and how your face moves when you speak or smile.
Results are visible immediately, with soft settling over the next 1–2 weeks as the product integrates with surrounding tissue.
What to expect
-
We’ll review your goals, evaluate proportions, and map your face from multiple angles — especially in motion and profile. We’ll walk you through observations about how this treatment may influence anything else, review our placement strategy so you feel fully aligned before we begin.
-
The treatment involves a few precise injections using a soft-tissue filler. You may feel slight pressure or pinch, but most clients find this quick and tolerable. No numbing is typically needed.
-
You may notice tenderness, firmness, or mild swelling for 1–3 days. You’ll see immediate change, with soft settling over the next 1–2 weeks. We'll guide you on how to protect your result — and when (or if) a touch-up makes sense.
Supporting your results
Below, you’ll find treatments we may suggest you pair, sequence, or layer with this one — always with intention, and only when they help protect or guide your results.
-
→Lower Face Neurotoxin — softens dimpling, tightness, or downward pull that can compete with your result
→Jawline Contouring — creates lateral continuity when the midline has been brought forward
→Lip Enhancement — restores proportion when chin projection affects lip-chin balance
-
→Microneedling with Exosomes — builds collagen in areas where texture or laxity becomes more visible
→PRF Injections or Radiesse Wash — strengthens dermal support beneath the chin and jawline
→CoolPeel or a →VI Chemical Peel — helps maintain smooth, even skin around the lower face between filler cycles
-
ven subtle structural shifts benefit from skin that’s strong, smooth, and well-supported. The right products can help maintain elasticity, improve surface texture, and protect your results as they settle.
We focus on clinically backed formulas that deliver visible results.Our go-to’s include:
SkinBetter InterFuse Face & Neck, to strengthen elasticity and support structural integrity;
SkinBetter Alto Advanced, a powerful antioxidant serum that reduces inflammation and environmental stress;
SkinBetter AlphaRet OvernightCream (optional), to improve surface texture and support renewal between sessions;
Any SPF from the SkinBetter Sunbetter and Colorescience Sunforgettablesunscreen lines
Frequently asked questions
-
This is one of the most common fears. But when chin filler is done thoughtfully, the result doesn’t look new — it looks right. We’re not adding something unnatural. We’re restoring balance that makes your features feel more connected. Most people won’t notice what changed — they’ll just say you look more rested or refined.
-
Yes — and that’s usually the point. But the goal is better proportion, not a dramatic change. We assess your profile and lip-chin balance before we begin, so everything feels intentional and subtle. You’ll still look like you — just more supported from every angle.
-
Not at all. Some clients come in to correct under-projection they’ve had since their teens. Others notice that with time, their chin has softened or pulled back slightly. This treatment works well at many ages — and we tailor it based on what your features need now, not a fixed idea of age.
-
Actually, it usually improves how those areas look — especially in profile. The chin helps support lower-face structure. If anything feels less in sync once your results settle, we’ll already have discussed whether a subtle adjustment elsewhere could help. Nothing is done without a full-face plan.
-
Yes — and understanding the difference helps you get the right result.
Chin filler creates structure through the center of the lower face. It adds projection, improves facial proportion (especially in profile), and helps balance the lips and nose. It’s ideal when your chin feels recessed, underdefined, or like it’s throwing off symmetry — even subtly.
Jawline filler, on the other hand, shapes the sides. It defines the angle near the ears, sharpens the contour along the jaw, and can help create more edge or structure — especially from the front or three-quarter view.
The difference in outcome is this:
Chin filler brings the face into better proportion. Jawline filler sharpens what’s already there.
Some clients need one. Some need both. We’ll help you figure out what creates the most natural balance for your features. -
Yes. If you're unsure how much change you want, we can build in stages. Sometimes we start with a conservative amount and refine after results settle. This gives you space to adjust and make decisions from a place of confidence, not pressure.
-
Yes — sometimes that area (called the mental crease) becomes more noticeable when the chin lacks support. Filler can help smooth that transition and create a more fluid line from your lips to your chin. If that’s something we see during your consult, we’ll walk you through whether a small adjustment would help.
