What it is
This treatment uses Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) — a regenerative injectable made from your own blood — to restore volume, skin health, and structure in the delicate under-eye area. This area is treat with both PRF consistencies; PRF Gel (added volume) and Liquid PRF
Unlike filler, which simply adds bulk, PRF works by stimulating collagen and improving circulation, gradually improving the appearance of hollowness, darkness, and texture over time.
Many people assume that dermal filler is the default for under-eye hollows. It is not — and for good reason. The skin here is thin, mobile, and highly expressive. Filler can sit awkwardly, cast light poorly, or create long-term issues if placed too early. That’s why at SkinAve, we always start with PRF, allowing the skin to strengthen, thicken, and repair before we even consider whether a small amount of filler might be helpful later on.
How it works
We begin with a small blood draw in studio and prepare your PRF — a golden, growth factor-rich concentrate of platelets, fibrin, and regenerative cells. This substance is gently injected under the eyes using a fine cannula, where it begins to work gradually over several weeks.
PRF encourages your body to rebuild collagen, improve skin tone, and thicken the delicate under-eye tissue — all of which help reduce the appearance of hollowness, fatigue, and fine crepey lines. Because it’s your own biologic material, it integrates naturally and carries no risk of overfilling or long-term migration.
In cases where deeper structural volume is still needed after PRF, we may discuss whether a small, conservative amount of hyaluronic acid filler makes sense. But it’s never our first choice — and only introduced once the skin is healthier, stronger, and ready for it.
What to expect
-
We’ll assess your eye structure, volume loss, skin thickness, and circulation. No makeup is needed. If you’re nervous about injectables near the eyes, we’ll walk you through every step beforehand
-
The session begins with a quick blood draw and PRF preparation. The treatment itself involves 2–3 small injections per side using a flexible cannula. Most clients feel pressure or fullness — not pain. We’ll talk you through it the entire time.
-
You may feel a gentle “puffiness” under the eyes for a few days. Bruising is uncommon, but possible. PRF works gradually — you’ll start to notice changes in tone and firmness around weeks 3–4, with continued improvement as your body builds collagen.
Supporting your results
What seems like a single concern or correction often touches something else. That’s why we plan with an eye toward natural results, a balanced expression, and changes that feel right — not just in the moment, but in what they set in motion next.
We talk you through all of it before anything begins, so you know what to expect and can make clear, confident choices from the start.
Below, you’ll find treatments we may suggest you pair, sequence, or layer with this one — always with intention, and only when they help protect or guide your results.
-
When mid-face volume loss or shape changes are contributing to the look of under-eye hollows, strategic treatment in adjacent areas may create a more seamless and supported appearance.
→Strategic Filler Placement— Targeted support in the cheeks, temples, or nasolabial folds can help reduce under-eye shadowing, soften transitions, and restore midface balance when volume loss is subtly impacting the under-eye area.
→PRF Gel Touch-Up — For additional smoothing and collagen support if minor refinements are needed after the initial series

Frequently asked questions
-
Most people assume filler is the go-to — but the skin under the eyes is so delicate that filler can easily look puffy, unnatural, or discolored. PRF works differently: it uses your own biology to strengthen the area gradually, supporting tissue quality and collagen. It’s often the safest, most natural first step — especially if you’ve had concerns with filler before.
-
In many cases, yes. PRF is our first choice for this area because it builds structure naturally without the risk of puffiness or Tyndall effect. Filler may be considered later — but never before your tissue is ready.
-
We’ll help determine the cause. If darkness is due to shadow from hollowing, PRF can help. If it’s pigment or vascular, we may guide you toward other options like skincare or peels.
-
We can usually give a strong sense of what to expect based on what we see during your first visit — but PRF builds gradually, and every face responds differently. Many people see early results after the first treatment, but we often recommend 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for fuller, more lasting change.
-
You’re not alone — this area is notoriously tricky with traditional filler. That’s exactly why PRF is our first choice. It avoids puffiness, doesn’t cause the Tyndall effect, and works with your skin — not against it. If you’ve had filler dissolved in the past, PRF can be a beautiful next step.
-
Yes — but not right away. We always start with PRF to rebuild the skin first. Once the tissue is stronger, a small amount of filler can sometimes add a subtle finishing touch. That decision is always guided by how your skin responds, and whether it’s actually needed.
